Epoxy Flooring System for Residential Garages & Basements
Introduction
Residential garages and basements are subject to low traffic and minimal mechanical or chemical exposure. Despite this, untreated concrete floors tend to dust, stain, and deteriorate over time. A structured epoxy flooring system provides a durable, dust-free, and visually enhanced surface suitable for such environments.
Recommended Use Cases
- Residential garages and private parking areas
- Home basements and storage rooms
- Personal workshops
- Service corridors or domestic maintenance areas
Step-Wise System Description
Step 1: Surface Preparation
- Mechanically grind or clean the substrate to remove contaminants.
- All necessary surface repairs, including crack filling or substrate restoration, must be completed prior to the application of any epoxy flooring materials. Ressichem offers a range of suitable crack fillers and repair compounds, including non-shrink cementitious grouts, specifically designed for surface preparation and repair.
- Ensure the surface is sound, dust-free, and moisture content is below 5%.
Step 2: Application of Ressi SLS Primer – 1
- Latex-based primer applied to promote adhesion before self-levelling screed.
- Drying time: 2–4 hours (tack-free).
Step 3: Application of Ressi SLS 610 Self-Levelling Screed
- Provides a smooth, level base.
- Requires 7–14 days to release moisture before epoxy application.
- Verify moisture is below 5% prior to priming.
Step 4: Application of Ressi EPO Primer LV
- Low-viscosity epoxy primer to seal and strengthen the surface.
- Apply evenly and allow to cure overnight.
Step 5: Application of Ressi EPO Tough Might
- High-build solvent-free epoxy coating at minimum 1000 microns thickness.
- Apply in a Single layer, with full curing in 7 Days. Light traffic in 48 to 72 Hours.
System Advantages
- Dust-free and seamless finish
- Easy to clean and maintain
- Resistant to household oils and mild chemicals
- Long-term durability with strong adhesion
- Available in decorative color options
Maintenance Guidelines
- Clean regularly with mild detergent and soft mop.
- Avoid acidic cleaners.
- Periodic recoat restores appearance and protection.
Note: For detailed information regarding mixing ratios, pot life, recoat intervals, coverage, and application environment, it is strongly recommended to refer to the individual product Technical Datasheets (TDS) for all materials used in this system before application.
